My name is Steven I. Ruffin, I'm a senior communication and graphic design student at Aurora University. I'm currently working as the Student Assistant of Graphics and Digital Media for the Sports Information Department at Aurora University, but I also work as a freelance designer and I'm almost always accepting new clients.
I started my journey as a graphic designer over six years ago in high school after taking a Flash Animation class based around Adobe Flash, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Within my first year I had already learned the basics of these software applications, and fallen in love with the idea of the infinite possibilities. I started taking Engineering & Drafting classes, and initially thought my passion was for Engineering and furthered my education in Mathematics and Physics. I started college as a Computer Science major which greatly helped to better my computer skills, but after taking a Visual Communication class, I fell in love with the Media Production & Design Industry.
By my junior year at Aurora University, I had changed my major to Communications and declared a Minor in Graphic Design. I began developing skills in other apps such as After Effects, Premiere Pro, and InDesign, and I've built an ever increasing portfolio. I started working for the Sports Information Department and I've produced all social media graphics for almost two years now. I've worked as a Youth Development Counselor during the summers, but during that time I also produce the Children's Beach House Newsletter.
